Google’s Pixel 11 launch contains plenty of headline features, but one of the most practical is also one of the easiest to overlook: Google says the new phones can add up to 15 hours of battery life from 15 minutes of charging.
That is the sort of improvement people actually notice in airports, offices and rushed mornings. For Pixel 10 Pro owners, though, it still needs to be weighed against a phone that was already strong on battery, charging and camera performance.
Pixel 11 turns charging into a feature again
Google says the Pixel 11 generation combines Tensor G6 with faster charging and improved efficiency. The new Pro models also bring major camera changes, including Pro Zoom up to 120x and faster Night Sight processing.
The Pixel 10 Pro is hardly primitive by comparison. Google’s own specifications list up to 55% charge in around 30 minutes on the 10 Pro, up to 100-hour Extreme Battery Saver and a 5x telephoto camera with Pro Zoom up to 100x. Those Pixel 10 Pro specifications are still published by Google.
So what is the upgrade really buying?
The easy answer is ‘better battery and AI’. The more useful answer is convenience. If your Pixel 10 Pro regularly runs low during the day, a faster top-up can remove a recurring annoyance. If you charge overnight and rarely fall below 30%, the same feature may be almost invisible in daily life.
This is why upgrade value is personal. A specification only has financial value if it solves a problem you actually have.
Put the old phone into the calculation
SellMyPhone displayed a leading working-condition offer of around £351 for the Pixel 10 Pro when checked for this article. That means someone already planning to buy Pixel 11 should not compare the entire new-phone price with zero; they should compare it with the cash gap after selling the current handset.

· After selling your Pixel 10 Pro, is the remaining upgrade cost worth that convenience?
The best battery upgrade may still be waiting
A year-on-year upgrade is rarely the cheapest way to own smartphones. Pixel 10 Pro users who are satisfied with the current battery can simply keep it and wait for a generation where several improvements matter at once.
But for heavy users who constantly carry a power bank, Google’s charging claim is exactly the sort of everyday improvement that can justify a move. Before deciding, compare what your current phone is worth and judge the Pixel 11 on the net cost rather than the launch price alone.
